About the Project
This modern medical practice, situated in the heart of Katoomba, has been meticulously designed to meet the burgeoning needs of the upper mountains community. Replacing an older facility only five minutes away, this new centre spans an impressive 980 square metres, ensuring ample space for cutting-edge healthcare delivery.
Features
The practice boasts 16 GP consulting rooms and three specialist rooms, each crafted to support a fast-paced, sterile environment. This project represents a significant upgrade in functional and technological aspects, aiming to maximise efficiency and enhance the services provided by IPN, Australia’s largest medical centre operator and occupational health provider.
The new design of the medical practice represents a significant improvement over the previous premises, offering fast and easy access from most consulting rooms to the centrally located treatment room situated behind the expansive reception area. This strategic layout ensures a smoother flow for both patients and healthcare providers, with the large reception desk serving as a focal point where patients are greeted and directed to the appropriate doctor or specialist.
The specialist rooms are thoughtfully designed to accommodate minor treatments, featuring slightly larger dimensions and custom joinery equipped with both clean and dirty sinks to enhance functionality and hygiene.
Technologies Used
While no specific technologies were included in this project, the focus was on sustainability through several energy-efficient features. All partition walls in the building are constructed from 64mm steel studs with acoustic insulation and a layer of 13mm sound check board on each side. This design choice effectively reduces noise transference between consultation rooms, ensuring a quieter and more private environment for both patients and staff.
